At Equestic, we often hear from riders and owners who’ve used the SaddleClip to support their horse’s wellbeing but every so often, a story stands out as a powerful reminder of why early intervention matters.
Jill and her mare Rosie are one such team, and with their permission, we’re proud to share their experience.
A Subtle Change That Signalled Something More
Earlier this year, Jill noticed that her horse Rosie’s ride data was showing subtle asymmetry on one diagonal. Nothing dramatic, but enough to raise a red flag.
Rather than ignore the changes or wait to see if things would improve on their own, Jill took action. She discussed the data with her vet, who already knew Rosie well.
Based on what the Equestic device had detected, the vet recommended a full work-up.
Diagnosing the Problem Early
Thanks to Jill’s swift response and the insight provided by the SaddleClip, Rosie was diagnosed with early arthritis in her fetlock joint. She received an Arthramed injection and the results were striking.
Not only did Rosie become more comfortable, but the improvement was clearly reflected in the ride data. Her asymmetry reduced significantly, showing more balance and rhythm in every stride.
Progress in the Numbers
As Equestic founder Leon Rutten shared with Jill in a follow-up email, “Rosie’s rhythm asymmetry on the left diagonal had decreased to just 3%. That’s an impressively low level and a strong indication that Rosie’s gait is now much more balanced and fluid.”
This meant Jill could begin introducing more complexity to Rosie’s exercise routine, safe in the knowledge that her progress could be monitored every step of the way.
Monitoring Recovery, Maintaining Performance
Jill’s story is a brilliant example of how early detection and consistent tracking can directly improve a horse’s welfare. As she put it:
“This device not only allowed us to seek early intervention it has allowed us the ability to monitor Rosie’s progress.”
We couldn’t put it better ourselves.
By combining veterinary support, targeted treatment, and the ongoing use of the SaddleClip, Jill has given Rosie the best chance to stay sound, comfortable and confident in her work.
Are You Tracking What Matters?
Rosie’s journey is one of many that shows the power of data in equine care.
